Love

Nothing can separate us from the love of God. It's in the Bible, Romans 8:38-39, NIV. "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

God's love is sacrificial. It's in the Bible, John 3:16, NIV. "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."

God's love lasts forever. It's in the Bible, Psalm 136:1, NIV. "Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His love endures forever."

How is love described? It's in the Bible, I Corinthians 13:4-7, NKJV. "Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things "

God is love. It's in the Bible, 1 John 4:8, NKJV, " He who does not love does not know God, for God is love."

Love is deep and priceless. It's in the Bible, Song of Solomon 8:7 "Many waters cannot quench love, Nor can the floods drown it. If a man would give for love all the wealth of his house, It would be utterly despised."

Love does not cause fear. It's in the Bible, 1 John 4:18, NKJV. "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love."

We are commanded to love one another. It's in the Bible, I John 2:7-8, TLB. "Dear brothers, I am not writing out a new rule for you to obey, for it is an old one you have always had, right from the start. You have heard it all before. Yet it is always new, and works for you just as it did for Christ; and as we obey this commandment, to love one another, the darkness in our lives disappears and the new light of life in Christ shines in."

Love is not just for friends. It's in the Bible, Matthew 5:43-44, TLB. "There is a saying, 'Love your friends and hate your enemies.' But I say: Love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!"

God's law is summed up in love. It's in the Bible, Matthew 22:37-40, NIV. "Jesus replied: 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Love for God is shown through keeping His commandments. It's in the Bible, I John 5:3, NRSV. "For the love of God is this, that we obey His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome."

Don't let your love for God weaken. It's in the Bible, Revelation 2:4-5, TLB. "Yet there is one thing wrong; you don't love me as at first! Think about those times of your first love (how different now!) and turn back to me again and work as you did before."

Love is not just a feeling, but takes all that we have. It's in the Bible, Deuteronomy 6:5, NKJV. "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength."

Law of God

The law of God contains ten commandments. It's in the Bible, Exodus 20:1-17, NKJV. " And God spoke all these words, saying: “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

[1] “You shall have no other gods before Me.
[2]“You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
[3]“You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
[4]“ Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

What is the basic principle of the law of God? It's in the Bible, Romans 13:10, NIV. "Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law."

Love sums up God's law. It's in the Bible, Matthew 22:37-40, NIV. "Jesus replied: 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. Jesus did not come to do away with God's law. It's in the Bible, Matthew 5:17-18, NKJV. "“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.

God's law offers direction, not justification. It's in the Bible, Galatians 2:16, NKJV. "knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified"

It is our duty to obey God's law. It's in the Bible, Ecclesiastes 12:13, NIV. "Here is the conclusion of the matter. Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man."

What is the connection between the law and sin? It's in the Bible, I John 3:4, KJV. "Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law."

Is it necessary to keep all of the commandments? It's in the Bible, James 2:10-11, NIV. "For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. For He who said, 'Do not commit adultery,' also said, 'Do not murder.' If you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you have become a lawbreaker."

If we know Jesus, we will keep His commandments. It's in the Bible, I John 2:4-6, NIV. "The man who says, 'I know Him,' but does not do what He commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone obeys His word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in Him: Whoever claims to live in Him must walk as Jesus did."

What is the purpose of the law? It's in the Bible, Romans 3:20, NIV. "Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin."

Are we saved by keeping the law? It's in the Bible, Romans 3:27-31, NIV. "Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. Because of what law? The law that requires works? No, because of the law that requires faith. For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law. Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith. Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law."

If we are not saved by keeping the Law, why do we keep it? It's in the Bible, John 14:15, NKJV. "If you love Me, keep my commandments."

God's law gives direction, wisdom, and joy to our lives. It's in the Bible, Psalm 119:9-10, NKJV. "How can a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed according to Your word. With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments!"

“Teach me, O LORD, the way of Your statutes, and I shall keep it to the end. Give me understanding, and I shall keep Your law; indeed, I shall observe it with my whole heart. Make me walk in the path of Your commandments, for I delight in it” (Psalm 119:33-35, NKJV).

“Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day. You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies; for they are ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers, for Your testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the ancients, because I keep Your precepts” (Psalm 119:97-100, NKJV)

Outreach

How can Christians be involved in evangelism? They should personally be responsible to pass on the gospel. It's in the Bible, Matthew 9:37-38, NIV. "Then He said to His disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field."

Evangelism is a worldwide work for all Christians. It's in the Bible, Matthew 28:19-20, NIV. "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Sharing Jesus Christ should be a way of life. It's in the Bible, Colossians 1:26-29, TLB. "So everywhere we go we talk about Christ to all who will listen, warning them and teaching them as well as we know how. We want to be able to present each one to God, perfect because of what Christ has done for each of them. This is my work, and I can do it only because Christ's mighty energy is at work within me."

The Good News must be preached everywhere before Jesus will come. It's in the Bible, Matthew 24:14, TLB. "And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it, and then, finally, the end will come."

You don't have to be a sophisticated, highly educated person to share Jesus. It's in the Bible, I Corinthians 2:1-5, TLB. "Dear brothers, even when I first came to you I didn't use lofty words and brilliant ideas to tell you God's message. For I decided that I would speak only of Jesus Christ and His death on the cross. I came to you in weakness—timid and trembling. And my preaching was very plain, not with a lot of oratory and human wisdom, but the Holy Spirit's power was in my words, proving to those who heard them that the message was from God. I did this because I wanted your faith to stand firmly upon God, not on man's great ideas."

We are called to be representatives of Jesus. It's in the Bible, II Corinthians 5:20, TLB. "We are Christ's ambassadors. God is using us to speak to you: we beg you, as though Christ Himself were here pleading with you, receive the love He offers you—be reconciled to God."

Evangelism is speaking for the Lord, but also modeling the truth. It's in the Bible, Mark 16:15 and John 13:35, TLB. "And then He told them, 'You are to go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone, everywhere…Your strong love for each other will prove to the world that you are My disciples."

Evangelism is more than preaching and witnessing. It's in the Bible, Isaiah 61:1, TLB. "The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to bring good news to the suffering and afflicted. He has sent Me to comfort the brokenhearted, to announce liberty to captives, and to open the eyes of the blind."

Obedience

Obeying God is in our best interest. It's in the Bible, Deuteronomy 30:15-16, TLB. "Look, today I have set before you life and death, depending on whether you obey or disobey. I have commanded you today to love the Lord your God and to follow His paths and to keep His laws, so that you will live and become a great nation, and so that the Lord your God will bless you and the land you are about to possess." Dueteronomy 10:12,13, NIV says, "And now, O Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways, to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe the Lord's commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?"

What do law, grace, and obedience have to do with each other? It's in the Bible, Romans 5:20, TLB. "The Ten Commandments were given so that all could see the extent of their failure to obey God's laws. But the more we see our sinfulness, the more we see God's abounding grace forgiving us."

Obedience can keep us from disease. It's in the Bible, Exodus 15:26, TLB. "If you will listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and obey it, and do what is right, then I will not make you suffer the diseases I sent on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord who heals you."

Obedience is the key to a successful life. It's in the Bible, Joshua 1:8, TLB. "Constantly remind the people about these laws, and you yourself must think about them every day and every night so that you will be sure to obey all of them. For only then will you succeed."

We will be evaluated in terms of our obedience to God's commandments. It's in the Bible, Matthew 5:19, TLB. "And so if anyone breaks the least commandment, and teaches others to, he shall be the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But those who teach God's laws and obey them shall be great in the Kingdom of Heaven."

Obedience is a result of loving God. It's in the Bible, John 14:15 and 23, TLB. "If you love Me, obey Me; …Because I will only reveal Myself to those who love Me and obey Me. The Father will love them too, and we will come to them and live with them."

The Holy Spirit will only be given to those who obey the Lord. It's in the Bible, Acts 5:32, NIV. "We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him."

Jesus obeyed His Father, as an example of how we should obey Him. It's in the Bible, Hebrews 5:8-9, TLB. "And even though Jesus was God's Son, He had to learn from experience what it was like to obey, when obeying meant suffering. It was after He had proved himself perfect in this experience that Jesus became the Giver of eternal salvation to all those who obey Him."

God advises us to obey the laws of the land. It's in the Bible, Romans 13:1-2, TLB. "Obey the government, for God is the one who has put it there. There is no government anywhere that God has not placed in power. So those who refuse to obey the laws of the land are refusing to obey God, and punishment will follow."

Sometimes obedience to God and His law may require disobedience of earthly powers. It's in the Bible, Acts 5:29, NIV. "We must obey God rather than men!"

Children are to obey and honor their parents. It's in the Bible, Ephesians 6:1-3, TLB. "Children obey your parents; this is the right thing to do because God has placed them in authority over you. Honor your father and mother. This is the first of God's Ten Commandments that ends with a promise. And this is the promise: that if you honor your father and mother, yours will be a long life, full of blessing."

Parenting

What is the value of early attention to child training? It's in the Bible, Proverbs 22:6, NIV. “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.”

What does God expect from parents as they raise children? Parents must be godly examples in words and actions. It's in the Bible, Deuteronomy 6:6-7, NIV “These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”

God expects parents to be patient. It's in the Bible, Colossians 3:21, TLB. “Fathers, don't scold your children so much that they become discouraged and quit trying.”

What does God expect of a mother? It's in the Bible, Proverbs 31:26, TLB. “When she speaks, her words are wise, and kindness is the rule for everything she says.”

Discipline is an expression of parental love. It's in the Bible, Proverbs 13:24, TLB. “If you refuse to discipline your son, it proves you don't love him; for if you love him, you will be prompt to punish him.”

Kind, firm correction helps children learn. It's in the Bible, Proverbs 29:15, TLB. “Scolding and spanking a child helps him to learn. Left to himself, he brings shame to his mother.”

The purpose of discipline is to help the children mature, not to anger them. It's in the Bible, Ephesians 6:4, TLB. “And now a word to you parents. Don't keep on scolding and nagging your children, making them angry and resentful. Rather, bring them up with the loving discipline the Lord Himself approves, with suggestions and godly advice.”

Children often bear the consequences of their parents' sins. It's in the Bible, Exodus 34:7, TLB. “I, Jehovah, show this steadfast love to many thousands by forgiving their sins; or else I refuse to clear the guilty, and require that a father's sins be punished in the sons and grandsons, and even later generations.”

What response does God expect from children? It's in the Bible, Ephesians 6:1, NIV “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.”

Past

Learn from people's past mistakes, to avoid repeating a regretful history. It's in the Bible, I Corinthians 10:11, TLB. "All these things happened to them as examples—as object lessons to us—to warn us against doing the same things; they were written down so that we could read about them and learn from them in these last days as the world nears its end."

Forget the negative things of the past. It's in the Bible, Philippians 3:13, NIV. "But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."

The trials and pains of this lifetime will be only moments in comparison to the glorious eternity we are being prepared for. It's in the Bible, 2 Corinthians 4:17, NKJV. "For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory"

History helps to strengthen our beliefs. It's in the Bible, Luke 1:1-4, NIV. "Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilledamong us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. Therefore, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, it seemed good also to me to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught."

No matter what sins you have committed in the past - if you have repented and ask Christ for forgiveness, we can believe it is true. Romans 3:24-25, KJV. "Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God"

No matter what our past, Christ can make us new again. It's in the Bible, 2 Corinthians 5:17, NKJV. "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." It's in the Bible, Isaiah 42:9, NKJV. "Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I declare; Before they spring forth I tell you of them.”

We can see how God has worked in the past to help us understand how He works with us today. It's in the Bible, Hebrews 1:1, NKJV. "God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;"

Never forget how God has been there for you in the past and pass it on to generations afterward to teach them, they can trust God. It's in the Bible, Deuteronomy 4:9, NKJV. "Only take heed to yourself, and diligently keep yourself, lest you forget the things your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. And teach them to your children and your grandchildren"

No matter the past, today we have the chance to redeem the time. It's in the Bible, Ephesians 5:15,16 "See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil"

You can believe in God's forgiveness of our past mistakes. It's in the Bible, Micah 7:19, NKJV. "He will again have compassion on us, and will subdue our iniquities. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea"
